February 1, 2010 - Palm Bay, FL    IH Racing today announced that they had signed Lucas Oil as a major associate sponsor for the 2010 racing season. CARQUEST Auto Parts and VP Racing Fuels have renewed their sponsorship for 2010 along with Ken's Speed & Machine Shop and Giant Recreation World. Express Signs of Melbourne, FL is the teams new sign sponsor and will be doing the signage on IH Racing's race cars and trailers. 

 

In other news, IH Racing will be relocating to Charlotte, NC, the heart of the racing industry. When asked why, team owner Ike Heckler Jr. had this to say, "Just like John Force's decision to move his operations to Brownsburg, IN, we have decided that being located in Charlotte, NC will decrease our racing travel expenses and our great sponsors will be better served.", Ike went on, "I've been in this drag racing business for 11 years and in order to race in 2010, you've got to do what it takes and decrease expenses to race at our level." IH Racing's 2010 schedule takes their 600hp 1967 Pontiac LeMans to 3 PINKS ALL OUT events in FL, NC, and TN and 3 NMCA events in FL, KY, and NC and the annual $10,000 Footbrake Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, PA.

 

IH Racing has also released their first book called Drag Racing 101 - From Building Your First Race Car to Securing Sponsors which takes the reader on a visual journey of the various builds of the team's '67 Pontiac LeMans while explaining how to get into drag racing and what it's all about, including funding your racing operation, securing sponsorship, and getting magazine and TV coverage.

This highly informative and easy to read 90 page full color book has over 85 assembly pictures and includes time slips that show how the race car evolved from 16 secs in 1994 to a 14 sec bracket car in 2005 all the way to a 10 sec all-out race car in 2009 !!
